    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Mechanical fitting activities associated with the dismantling, inspection, repair and overhaul, assembly and testing of rotating equipment to deliver the highest quality of repair, on time and to budget, and in accordance with Company and customer specific HSEQ requirements.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

    • Dismantle, inspection, condition assessment & subsequent reporting on the received equipment
    • Liaise with contract engineers, service engineers and supervisors to propose repairs, refurbishment and processes to return identified equipment to a serviceable condition and to the relevant specifications
    • Carrying out various mechanical fitting activities with a degree of flexibility and integrity and working efficiently to achieve “on time” targets of an excellent quality to company procedures
    • A pro-active approach to health, safety and environmental practices in the workshop at all times and assist in driving the required culture by adopting our key safety values
    • Ensure all pre-safety checks are completed, and that all equipment and guarding in the fitting area is maintained to a high standard, where appropriate liaising with Team Leader/Manager
    • Work with Team Leader/Manager to ensure accurate and on time completion of equipment repairs, completing strip down reports, assembly rebuild records, Quality Plan, Workshop Instructions, Balance Certificates and Pressure Test Records where applicable to meet departmental daily/weekly work schedules
    • Accountable for the part and full assembly of identified equipment, Balancing, Pressure Testing and Customer acceptance testing
    • Ensure the POWRA Board is completed and relevant to the task
    • Ensure a high level of housekeeping and that your area of responsibility is visitor ready at all times using 5 S Techniques; actively participate where required to support the business continuous improvement projects
    • Have knowledge of the WEIR HSE & quality systems.
    • Ensure compliancy with group / business health and safety process’s and objectives as set per PDM / PDP / VCE.
    • Comply with WEIR ZERO Harm process
    • Comply with WEIR Duty of Care policy.



    • Ability to access and raise Q pulse and HSE items and online systems.
    • Ability to raise Safety NCR / Near Misses / hazards.
    • Zero Harm Training.
    • Duty of Care Awareness / Training.

    PDM / PDP / VCE action completion

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications


    Time Served craftsperson in appropriate discipline or relevant qualifications and job experience.


    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and engineering drawings.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Confident communicator.


    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


    HSE Awareness

    Strong awareness of company HSE policies and procedures and tools / access to online systems. 


    Compliance with WEIR Duty of care and Zero harm requirements.  Commitment to safety first toward self and all staff.  No task however big or small or commercially high value can’t be stopped due to safety concerns.

    Candidates should be prepared to work on sites away from your designated Service Centre, including other Service Centres or on client sites. You may be required to work standby and callout rotas according to the specific client requirements.
