    Business Need / Purpose of Role


    We are currently looking for an Optimisation Process Engineer to join our European team. You will be part of a team that will analyze mine sites and mineral extraction processes in order to engineer and provide solutions. The ideal candidate will be based in one of the following offices: Spain, Scandinavia and United Kingdom.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

    • identify, select and effectively engineer process improvement projects from concept through commercialization and commissioning of solutions at Weir Minerals Europe customers' mines.
    • comply with company policies and procedures.
    • build the flowsheets with the mass / water balances for Complex Grinding Circuits.
    • Complex Grinding Circuit simulation and sizing capability including the equipment of SAG, Ballmill, Cyclone, screen.
    • lead the mechanical designers to build GA and P&ID’s based upon flow sheet solutions and customer specific requirements.
    • be involved in site surveys to ensure the solutions are compatible with existing customer plant and equipment.
    • drive commissioning stage for WME equipment at site when needed.
    • work closely with regional sales teams and support Identification of the opportunities and deliver Weir Solution approach.
    • ensure that all opportunities, deadlines and customers' expectations are met.
    • ensure that the business is developed with a focus on working safely and ethically.
    • provide regular reports of actual performance and forecasts of future performance specific to the solution team projects and activity.


    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    • Mining/ Mineral Processing Engineering degree. 
    • Minimum of 10 years experience in Minerals Processing Engineering.
    • Written and English speaking. An additional European language is a plus.
    • Excellent knowledge of mechanical and electricity.

    • Awareness of cultural differences and their impact in business.

    • Willing and able to undertake a high degree of travel (up to 50%)


    Core Competencies

    Working experience on:

    • crushing and screening plants.
    • Wet Grinding circuits ( Size control experience, SAG –Ball Mill , Rod Mill experience, Sizing and Selection Experience).
    • flotation plants for valuable metals – Gold- Silver- Polymetal Ores.
    • JKSimMet and similar simulation programs.
    • tailing disposal in mineral processing plant (long pipe line transportation, PD pump, Thickening and Filtering equipment experience).
    • hydrometallurgical plants ( CIL, Electro-winning ) is a plus.
    • the gravity concentrators / magnetic separation plants is a plus.
    • knowledge/ Experience about the rare process/refinery plants is a plus; Alumina, Nickel.
