    Business Need / Purpose of Role


    An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Sales function for a Demand Planning Manager. Reporting directly to the Sales Operations Manager this is a key post within the organisation. The role entails driving internal and external cross-functional collaboration on Weir Minerals Europe demand.


    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities



    Purpose of Role

    Develop and maintain the overall Sales (or replenishment) forecast for Weir Minerals Europe:

    • Collect, collate and manage the demand planning activities to be used to produce sales and customer replenishment plans, specifically collaborating with Key Account Customers
    • Define replenishment policy alongside intercompany contacts
    • Drive forecast KPI improvement across both accuracy and bias
    • Drive collaboration between Sales, supply Chain, finance and operations on future business projects and their holistic business impact
    • Drive the step one Demand review in the S&OP process and assist in shaping demand following feedback from the stage two supply review


    Objectives in Role

    • Optimization and visibility of Market Finished Goods Inventory
    • Improved communication within the business

    • Move from order to replenishment basis

    Key accountabilities for the Demand Planning Manager will be:

    • Ensure that the sales plan is fully endorsed and owned by the business , linked to the budget and signed off by MD
    • Generate sales forecast together with the customers, key account management and sales force with marketing and finance participation and agreement which will include travel to customer locations.
    • Approve per item or product family
    • Review and agree priorities internally and across intercompany businesses when supply is constrained
    • Participate actively on the end to end S&OP process
    • Understand the product lifecycle and sales plan
    • Understand and support the product marketing activities
    • Understand the characteristics of each of the products
    • Provide monthly replenishment forecasts for 18 months on rolling basis to allow annual capacity to be planned
    • Provide 3 month forecast ( in weekly buckets) to drive production planning
    • Review forecast accuracy and take appropriate actions
    • Track previous forecasts together with the sales force, analyse past performance and agree implications for future plans
    • Review demand to date vs Forecast and manage forecast consumption logic
    • Review the impact of the latest new product introductions
    • Gather the inputs for sales forecasting: sales and demand history; key account plans and agreements; customer and competitor intelligence; sales incentives; price movements.
    • Develop sales forecasts collate , analyze and validate Key Performance Indicators
    • Review / validate SLAs with intercompany customers



    • Forecast accuracy at Item and family level across different lags
    • Inventory days of supply ( DIOH)
    • OTD

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    • Educated to degree level will be advantageous
    • Good English (written and spoken), Spanish/ Russian knowledge desirable but not essential
    • Excellent demand/sales planning experience
    • Proven experience in a customer-focused environment
    • Previous exposure to business marketing/sales issues

    Core Competencies

    • I.T. skills: Use of Advance Planning Software(APS) is desirable. Computer literate (Excel & Access)
    • Business Acumen: Analyses issues from a market perspective. Understands marketing and sales strategies and knows how to organize activities in line with it.
    • Administration skills: Maintains processes, procedures and systems correctly. Ensures data accuracy and supports deadlines. Highly organised so that all deadlines are met.
    • Stakeholder Management: Builds and maintains professional and effective working relationships with colleagues and key customers/accounts, whilst maintaining the tenacity to constructively challenge assumption and inadequate performance.
    • Customer focus: Can respond to senior management and customer needs positively and appropriately
