  • Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Continuing in our goal to develop an outstanding Supply Chain at Weir Minerals Europe, we are looking for a candidate to join our Expediting team. The ideal candidate for this role will act as a link between the planning and procurement teams, working directly with the vendors on the expediting of materials that are used in the construction of our World Class products’; ensuring their timely arrival for use in production. The post holder will develop strong relationships within the end to end supply chain for their portfolio as well as being a point of contact for issues relating to delivery of goods.   The candidate will be responsible for reporting on the status of deliveries to various departments and ensuring the customer requirements are met.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    • Communicate order book with internal and external suppliers
    • Work with suppliers to action all exception messages (Pull forwards, Push outs, Cancellations etc.)
    • Update I2B/SAP with delivery confirmations and/or date changes and other relevant information within agreed service level agreements
    • Ensure parts and materials are on time to meet customer demand and production planning schedule
    • Support initiatives and programs to reduce lead times and improve OTD and Supply Chain Performance
    • Determine required mode of transport for goods and seek relevant approvals to ensure goods arrive to suit customer needs
    • Assist in the development and management of internal and external end to end supply chains ensuring supply of high quality and competitively priced materials and services.
    • Assist in the development of strategic relationships with suppliers and work to continuously improve supplier performance
    • Support with the Scheduled Supplier Appraisals

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    • Represent the purchasing department on supplier delivery matters at stake holder meetings
    • Establish and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders
    • Produce reports as and when required
    • Support and promote Weir core values and act as an ambassador for the Procurement function
    • Join supplier meetings to discuss Supplier Quality, delivery performance, etc.

    Core Competencies

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent analytical skill
    • Excellent SAP skill and experience in the Procurement module
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft packages particularly Excel
    • Ability to work to deadlines in and organised fashion
    • Excellent Relationship building skills
    • Creative Problem Solving Ability
    • Enthusiasm and resilience are key attributes for this role
