    Procurement Manager

    Continuing in our goal to develop an outstanding Supply Chain at Weir Minerals Europe (WME), we are looking for a Procurement Manager to join our team.  The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced Procurement Manager with a passion for delivering a best in class supply base whilst developing and running a successful team of buyers. The post holder will develop strong relationships within the end to end supply chain, developing relationships and strategies that will support the 4 pillars of Safety, Service, Cash and Cost.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and develop a team of 8 direct and indirect buyers.
    • Control £80M spend per annum across direct and indirect areas for WME region
    • Support the efficient running of the Weir Minerals Europe Operation through sourcing of best in class Vendors.
    • Deliver cost out opportunities and control spend to limit price inflation across categories.
    • Conduct commercial negotiations with selected suppliers
    • Explore new sourcing initiatives to deliver optimal Working Capital for the business.
    • Provide excellent leadership and direction for the WME Procurement function.
    • Work collaboratively on Procurement with other regions within the Weir Minerals division.
    • Uphold and promote the SHE guidelines of the Weir Zero Harm safety policy.
    • Implement a long term procurement strategy using a category management approach
    • Drive supplier rationalisation and transactional aggregation to create a purchasing advantage and improve efficiency

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Required knowledge

    • Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS holder)
    • Degree educated.
    • At least 5 years in a senior Procurement role with team management responsibility.
    • Demonstrate ability to build and maintain relationships with vendor base.
    • Excellent knowledge and experience of using SAP
    • Ability to work autonomously whilst empowering direct reports
    • Experience of working in a heavy engineering industry preferred.
    • Highly commercial and numerate with advanced Excel skills
    • Strong understanding of commercial contracts
    • Proven expertise streamlining and improving procurement processes and systems
